Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union (TVFCU) marked a milestone year in 2025, surpassing $3 billion in assets and setting the stage for its 90th anniversary in 2026, a testament to nearly nine decades of serving members and communities across the Tennessee Valley and North Georgia.

Founded in 1936 with initial deposits totaling just $500, TVFCU has expanded significantly over the years. In 2025, the credit union celebrated several key accomplishments designed to help members achieve their financial goals. Growth was driven in part by the credit union’s continued expansion into North Georgia and the grand opening of its North Georgia headquarters in Dalton, Georgia. TVFCU also strengthened its long-standing partnership with Food City, opening its 29th branch in Trenton, Georgia, providing members with convenient access to a full range of financial services while shopping.

Beyond geographic growth, TVFCU introduced innovative solutions to reduce financial stress and expand access:

  • Eliminated Non-Sufficient Funds fees and reduced Courtesy Pay fees, saving members an estimated $6 million.
  • Waived Skip-a-Pay fees during government shutdowns, providing relief to government-employed members.
  • Expanded access to information, launching Ask Finney, a 24/7 AI-powered digital assistant; adding Spanish language support at ATMs; and translating print materials into Spanish.
  • Helped members buy vehicles, funding more than 8,000 auto loans and giving away six vehicles during Used Car Night with the Chattanooga Lookouts.
  • Helped members buy homes, introducing FHA and USDA mortgage options, covering appraisal costs to save members $719,255, and financing more than 1,500 home loans.
  • Invested in local businesses, establishing 450 new business relationships to support entrepreneurs and business owners.

Community impact remained central to TVFCU’s mission of creating “A Place for All of Us.” In 2025, the credit union invested more than $500,000 in 88 nonprofits and small businesses, while employees supported the community through volunteerism and charitable giving.

  • TVFCU Riverfront Nights, the free summer concert series, attracted 200,000 attendees throughout the summer.
  • The 29th annual TVFCU Golf Classic raised more than $69,000 for education initiatives.
  • Employees raised over $13,000 for the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program and pledged more than $57,000 to Children’s Miracle Network.
  • Through the Idea Leap program, TVFCU awarded $225,000 in grants to 15 small businesses across the Ocoee Region, Chattanooga Region, and Northwest Georgia.

TVFCU was founded on the philosophy of “People Helping People,” a principle that continues to guide every decision—from lowering fees and improving access through technology to supporting nonprofits that meet critical community needs.

“As we look back on 2025, we celebrate the financial milestones our members achieved,” said Todd Fortner, President and CEO of TVFCU. “Our members bought cars, built homes, saved for retirement and college, and started new businesses. We’re honored to support individuals, families, and businesses at every step of their financial journey.”
