TVFCU Announces Major Expansion Food City Grocery Stores

September 23, 2016

Food City In-Store TVFCU Branches to Offer Extended Hours and Convenience for Shoppers at Two Locations

Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union is making it more convenient for members to do business. TVFCU announced that it will open branches inside two area Chattanooga Food City stores, including the East Hamilton Food City location, 1667 Ooltewah-Ringgold Road, and the Red Bank Food City location, 3901 Dayton Blvd.

"We are excited to partner with TVFCU," said Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer. "This relationship will make it more convenient for our customers to complete their banking needs and grocery shopping all with one stop."

The in-store branch collaboration enables TVFCU to strategically serve members who live in between existing TVFCU branches. The suburban-placed branches will have extended hours to improve convenience.

"We are honored that Food City invited us to open branches within their stores to allow us to meet the financial needs of their shoppers," said Todd Fortner, TVFCU president and chief executive officer. "Not only is Food City a leader in the grocery store market, but their like-minded approach to community and service is consistent with our mission."

With convenience in mind, financial services consultants will be available Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to open new accounts and loans. In addition, the branch will feature two TVFCU LIVE stations that will be open from Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Through TVFCU LIVE, members can connect LIVE with a personal teller to make basic over-the-counter transactions — deposits, withdrawals, loan payments and transfers.

The space at the front of the East Hamilton and Red Bank locations will soon be renovated into full-service branches by Financial Supermarkets, Inc. (FSI), an in-store branching leader. The branches are slated to open during first quarter 2017, which will be announced at a later date.

"In-store financial services means that TVFCU members can now be in two places at the same time — banking and shopping under the same roof," said Roy Bell, FSI president and chief executive officer.
