Community leaders joined TVFCU employees for the grand opening of TVFCU’s new City Center Branch
Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union opens its new City Center Branch, 728 Market St., Suite 112 B, in the heart of Chattanooga’s City Center on Monday. The walk-up branch is located directly across the street from TVFCU’s current branch at 715 Market Street.
TVFCU opened its branch at 715 Market Street in June 1978. The branch has served TVFCU well during the past 43 years, but the three-story building no longer meets the credit union’s needs. TVFCU outgrew the administrative office space and moved to 535 Chestnut Street in February 2018.
The branch has remained, but the drive-thru was built decades ago and is a challenge for today’s vehicles and downtown traffic patterns. TVFCU has found two solutions to better serve its members.
“Maintaining our presence in the heart of downtown Chattanooga is extremely important to us,” said Todd Fortner, president and CEO of TVFCU. “The new City Center Branch will continue to allow downtown employees and urban residents the convenience of a walk-up branch.”
The 1,792-square foot City Center Branch features three ITM/ATM machines in the lobby, two member service desks and a manager’s office. There is also an ITM/ATM machine in the vestibule, which is accessible after hours to TVFCU members with a TVFCU debit or ATM card.
TVFCU ceremoniously celebrated the bridging of the two branches with Chattanooga’s shortest parade across Market Street. Swayyvo, a local musician who stars in TVFCU’s commercials, led the parade from TVFCU’s old branch to the new branch.
During the grand opening ceremony, TVFCU made a donation to the Children’s Miracle Network as part of the CU4Kids Program. Limited scale branch tours were conducted after the ribbon-cutting and attendees enjoyed individually-packaged breakfast treats from B’s Sweets, a TVFCU business member.
TVFCU will open a second branch in Chattanooga’s Southside on Monday, May 17, that features a branch drive-thru. The existing branch at 715 Market Street will remain open until then.
